The Latrobe Grand Tour is 35-minute scenic flight showcasing the landscapes and communities that make the Valley home to more than 77,000 people. From mountains and bushland to thriving townships, lakes, farmland and the region’s iconic energy industry, it’s the perfect way to experience the diversity of this remarkable part of Gippsland.

Departing from our private heliport in Hazelwood North, you’ll head east past the rural community of Traralgon South before circling Loy Yang Power Station. From there, the flight continues north for sweeping views of the growing regional city of Traralgon, the Latrobe River winding through farmland, and the surrounding Glengarry district.

Following the foothills, you’ll enjoy views over Tyers and Yallourn North before reaching beautiful Lake Narracan, often alive with boating and water sports. You’ll then fly over Newborough, with neighbouring Moe nearby, before returning across the western side of Morwell.

Along the way you’ll also see the former Hazelwood Mine as it continues its transformation into a future lake, the nearby Hazelwood Pondage, and views towards Churchill before returning to base at Hazelwood North.

Departure location

  • Big Sky Helicopters private helipad in Hazelwood North. An easy 15 minute drive from Traralgon, Morwell or the freeway.
  • The departure location address will be included with your booking confirmation email.

Check-in details

Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled departure to complete paperwork, be weighed, and attend the pre-flight safety briefing.

All passengers must present a valid photo ID at check‑in.

Complimentary parking is available at our departure location.

What to bring

  • Photo ID
  • Comfortable clothing suitable for the weather on the day.
  • Enclosed toe, non-slip footwear is recommended.
  • Sunglasses, sunscreen and a cap.
  • Camera or phone to take photos of your experience.

Special requirements

  • Children under 12 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
  • Steps may be required to enter the helicopter. Passengers must be able to safely board and exit the aircraft with minimal assistance.
  • Please let us know in advance of any mobility issues or medical conditions so we can accommodate you where possible.

Restrictions

Pregnant passengers in the third trimester should consult their doctor before flying.

Not recommended for passengers with severe motion sickness, heart conditions, recent surgery, or vertigo.

Space is limited; no large bags or bulky items are permitted onboard.

Smoking and alcohol is not permitted on board.

Is there a weight limit?

Weight and size limits apply for safety reasons - maximum passenger weight is 120kg.

Please provide current passenger weights when booking, passengers may be weighed as part of the check-in process.
